The work

Twenty-two years. Newest commit first.

Intentional technology enhances the human condition — a conviction that's driven me since the mid-90s, from learning Linux at the turn of the millennium to architecting cloud-native systems today. I absorb fast, dig to root cause, optimize relentlessly, and communicate without games. What follows is the reverse-chronological proof: from where I work now back through the studios, agencies, and self-directed years that taught me the trade.

Groupon

Senior Production Tools Engineer · Technical Lead, CI/CD

Technical lead for the CI/CD team. Owned vision, OKRs, scoping, prioritization, and cross-team alignment. Built the build and release infrastructure that the rest of Groupon engineering shipped through.

  • Managed large-scale Jenkins build and packaging environment on Mesos and Marathon, delivering Continuous Integration as a service to the rest of engineering.

  • End-to-end migration of 50+ legacy Node applications to Docker with zero user impact.
  • Built a web-based Service Portal that aggregated Groupon's 500+ services into one self-updating dashboard, used by SRE, SOC, devs, and management.
  • Implemented globally-redundant Artifactory across 3 data centers on 2 continents, with a 2-tier DR failover providing global availability during multi-DC downtime.
  • Migrated on-premise GitHub Enterprise VCS to a private AWS VPC. Cross-functional, cross-team effort.
  • Upgraded a legacy Ruby CMDB / central config service: cut update cycle time 97% to 30 seconds across 25,000+ hosts.
  • Created CI metrics pipelines (MTTR, CTTS, JVM, canaries) shipping to ELK and Wavefront.
  • Solved deep containerization edge cases involving NFS, caching, overlay filesystems, and ulimits.
  • Championed Outside-in Testing, mentored junior devs across multiple years including international remote pairings.
